Green Smoothie - A Great Way to Start Your Day

I find eating a "green smoothie" is an extremely delicious and energizing way to start the day! For my smoothies, I do not include canned or jarred ingredients, as they have almost always been pasteurized and therefore do not retain many of the living enzymes found in fresh produce. Feel free to vary your smoothie to what works best for you. Here are some possible ingredients:

Ingredients

BASE

1-2 cups of water or organic vegan milk (soy, rice, almond, coconut, etc.)
3 bananas (or similar volume of mangoes, dates, etc.)

FRUIT (for extra flavor and energy)

1 cup additional fruit (fresh or frozen) - usually berries - for extra flavor and nutrition (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, mangoes, kiwi, papaya, pineapple, etc.)

VEGETABLES (for essential nutrition)

2 cups of greens (kale, spinach, lettuce, etc.)
1-2 carrots (carrots are high in calcium and beta carotene, which produces vitamin A)

FATS / PROTEINS (for extra long lasting energy)

1 scoop of Raw Vegan Protein Powder or 1 small avocado (avocados are also high in Omega 3 fatty acids)
1 teaspoon of flax seed oil (for omega 3's)
2 teaspoons of ground chia or flax seeds
1 spoonful of peanut or almond butter

Blend and Enjoy!
