Responding to Health Problems - Pills or Lifestyle Change?

Some serious health issues are genetic and aren't related to dietary choices. Other health issues such as accidents and life threatening emergencies require immediate medical attention. However, I believe that most health issues have serious connections to diet, exercise and stress. Often though, we respond to the health problems with pills, surgeries and "quick fixes" that ultimately destroy our health and immune system.

Pain is not always a bad thing. In fact, pain can be a megaphone and a catalyst for change. For example if given the choice between my favorite pizza and a healthy stir fry dish or a salad, the pizza will be very tempting. This may not even effect how I feel for the rest of the day. However, choosing the pizza again and again over a long period of time will likely lead to weight gain and other health issues.

But so what? What if things like some weight gain and a bit of high blood pressure aren't a big deal to me, especially compared with the difficulties and headaches of healthy eating? The answer is pain. Pain will make a person CHANGE bad habits like nothing else. Pain is not always a bad thing. Listen to your pain every day and figure out what it's trying to tell you. What impulsive lifestyle choices are literally HURTING you? Another pill may take the pain away temporarily. But this means you stop listening to the valuable lessons that pain is trying to teach you.
